So I'm at the end of my first week as the new Librarian for Extended Education at Western Washington University. Actually, I'm going over time now. That's part of the whole thing: I managed to land here in the middle of some craziness. It is the beginning of the quarter ( the Fall quarter starts at the end of September) and there are some issues with getting enough librarians to staff everything.
That means I've been put into the thick of it right away. This is not exactly a bad thing mind you, even if it is discombobulating. My second day on the job I went out to see a library instruction session, then I delivered something similar on my own the next evening. Pretty crazy, but it is valuable to get my face out there to the students and just convince them to contact me when they need research help.
I'll get into details more as I get into a good time-groove and have some time to fill out the details on what I do and how it is going.
